To evaluate a patient's candidacy for mechanical support, it is essential to calculate the Cardiac Output (CPO) and the Pulmonary Artery Pressure Index (PAPi).

Several authors suggest adjusting peak oxygen consumption to 110 mL O2/min for patients older than 75 years, while this application employs a standard of 125 mL O2/min across all patient demographics.

• BSA = √(height * weight) / 36
• Fick Equation = 125 x BSA / ((SaO2 - SvO2) * Hgb * 13.4)
