To evaluate a patient's candidacy for mechanical support, it is essential to calculate the Cardiac Output (CPO) and the Pulmonary Artery Pressure Index (PAPi).

The following recommendations are grounded in the research findings of The Detroit Shock Initiative:

This application is not intended to substitute for clinical judgment. The responsibility for the consequences arising from the use of this application does not rest with me. It is important to note that there is no universally accepted formula for calculating Body Surface Area (BSA) or cardiac output. Several authors suggest adjusting peak oxygen consumption to 110 mL O2/min for patients older than 75 years, while this application employs a standard of 125 mL O2/min across all patient demographics.

Formulas:

 <li>BSA = √(height * weight) / 36</li>
 <li>Fick Equation = 125 x BSA / ((SaO2 - SvO2) * Hgb * 13.4)</li>
</ul>
